Calling all writers and readers!
Mark your calendars for July 11 to 13 and then sign up for a workshop at the Write on Bowen! Festival of Readers and Writers. Write on Bowen! celebrates writers and readers on beautiful Bowen Island, BC, and beyond!

Sponsored by the Bowen Island Arts Council, Write on Bowen kicks off on Friday, July 11 with an evening of readings featuring Vancouver's inaugural poet laureate, George McWhirter and four Bowen writers, including James Glave, Bernice Lever, Lisa Shatzky, and Julie Vik. The event will be held at Cates Hill Chapel at 7:30. MC for the evening is the irrepressible Calder Killy. Tickets are just $15.00 and are on sale at Phoenix Books or send in a registration form from http://biac.ca/writersfestival/register.php

Over the weekend of July 11 to 13, Festival-goers can choose from eight exciting workshops and three panel presentations. Topics include screenplay writing, memoir writing, poetry for youth, publishing strategies, lyric writing, freelance writing, word drawings with George McWhirter, sourcing your inspiration, and poetry writing. Workshops cost just $20.00 for members of the Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC) and $25.00 for non-members. Panel presentations are free!

For detailed descriptions of all the events and biographies of the presenters, check out www.biac.ca/writersfestival

On Saturday evening, join local Bowen authors for a gala celebration of the written arts. On Sunday morning, take a contemplative walk in the Lieben Lands, a local property that inspired many of the biggest names in Canadian literature who visited there during the 1940s and 1950s.
